Ridgewalker Backpacking Trip
DATES
The dates for the 2008 Ridgewalker Trip have been set. The group will gather at thte base camp on Sunday, June 29, 2008. The trip will be completed on Saturday, July 5, 2008 in Harper's Ferry, WV.
LOCATION
The trip will take place on the Appalachian Trail in parts of Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia. Base Camp is planned for Washington Monument State Park, a midway point on the trip.The park is about 30 minutes from Gettysburg, PA.
ELIGIBILITY
The Ridgewalker Trip is open to former participants and leaders and boys from active Lutheran Pioneer Trains. There is a limit of 16 participants for the trip.
Pioneers should have been confirmed. Contact the Trip Coordinator with questions.
Non-Pioneer participants are welcome as space permits.
Base camp helpers are needed. If you would be interested in camping in the area for the week and helping get the group going and with their Wednesday evening meal and Thursday breakfast, consider joining us. The base camp is near many interesting historical sites including Gettysburg which is celebrating its 145th anniversary.
Lutheran Girl Pioneers also participate in this trip.
COST
Final costs have not been set but estimates are in the range of $150-$200. First timers who are not members of an active Lutheran Boy Pioneer Train pay an additional 25% of the base cost. Fees do not include travel to the base camp.
DEADLINE
Registrations and a prepayment of $100 are due by June 1, 2008. We will take the first 16 to register. After that a waiting list will be established.
